XXXI Summer Sounds 29.6.-3.7.2016 – Just be

Planning a festival is exciting. Planning Avanti’s Summer Sounds is really exciting! It’s a process that educates, teaches and inspires. It requires creativity and space. Space?

We are all different – some of us very efficient go-getters, others less so – but one thing we all have in common: we’re always in such a rush these days. In such a rush that in practice we are constantly behind schedule. The internet has taught us to expect things to happen the moment we hit the button, and even friends may get annoyed if they don’t receive a reply within three hours.

Luckily, art and creativity don’t fit this pattern or trend, which is why art is essential. We all need space. Space to think, to feel, to act and just be. The programme for this year’s Summer Sounds is a sort of unspoken message: an invitation to come and just be, to enjoy the space and the moment in music.

A very warm welcome to you all. We look forward to seeing you.

Dima Slobodeniouk
